There are nearly 100 dialects, which are spoken throughout on the different islands of the Philippines, Tagalog developed to a kind of national language (the Philipino), which is spoken mainly in the Metro Manila area and widely used in the mass media. The Philippines is the third largest English-speaking nation in the world, with a small percentage of the total population speaking Chinese and Spanish.
